	Extract from an email sent by Bob’s daughter Sarah

My Dad has terminal kidney cancer. This does not respond to chemo and there is no cure. Dad's had surgery to remove his cancer, but it has now spread to his lungs. Despite all this he has few symptoms and feels well.

There is a drug available that is clinically proven to be effective, likely to keep him feeling well and could more than double his life expectancy (giving him an extra 1-3 years), and has few side effects.

Bob was featured in the Bristol Evening Post this evening. It was part of an article about the ongoing battle to receive the drug Sutent and the cost to patients and their families in financial and emotional terms at a time when they need help and hope more than ever.


	NICE is nasty

Bob is already taking the drug Sutent (Sunitinib) at a cost to us of £4,000 per 4 weeks cycle. Although he has this dreadful disease, Bob is still active and feels well but he needs to take this drug indefinitely to be able to maintain the status quo.
